Colonial Quito
Quito is one of the best-preserved colonial cities in the whole of Latin America. It has a delightful mix of narrow cobbled streets and fine colonial architecture for you to explore.

Otavalo Market
Travel north to the indigenous village of Otavalo to experience the sights and smells of an authentic Andean market. Admire the great scenery of the Sierra and enjoy walking along the shores of Lake Cuicocha.

The Amazon
This trip combines two of the most untamed places on earth: wild jungle and remote islands. The Amazon seems to be an endless green and silent world, but it is rich in wildlife and you will have fun trying to spot the animals.

The Galapagos
In the Galapagos, you enter a natural world where the local residents are not shy. You'll stay on the islands themselves, providing great opportunities to hike among the volcanoes or enjoy the stunning unexplored beaches. Boobies look up as you walk past their nests and sea lions actively seek you out as you snorkel. It's a great, fun world for the kids to explore.

The Trip

This is an easy trip for anyone in reasonable health - although heat and humidity can be high. Minimum age: 5 years.

Tips

The sun’s rays are extremely strong at sea in this region. Pack some high protection waterproof sunscreen, lipsalve, sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat to protect yourself from sun and windburn. Snorkellers are advised to wear an old t-shirt for added protection from the sun. The water can also be cold so this adds some insulation. A disposable waterproof camera will add a different perspective to your holiday photos without costing the earth.

Hotels (10nts), lodge (2nts) We use small family-run hotels in Quito, Otavalo and on the Galapagos. The lodge in the jungle has full facilities. Swimming opportunities- In the pool at Puerto Ayora.

Day 6 - Amazon rainforest; walks

Day 7 - Transfer from jungle to Banos

Day 8 - Journey to Quito; Cotopaxi walk

Day 9 - Galapagos; walks, beaches, wildlife

Day 10 - Santa Cruz / Isabela Island

Day 11 - Vulcano Sierra Negra / Chico Volcano / Isabela Island
