Sphinx, Pyramids & Aswan
In Cairo you head first to the Egyptian Museum which houses what is possibly the richest collection of artefacts in the world including Tutankhamun’s famous golden mask. Next you take an unforgettable visit to the legendary Pyramids at Giza and see the enigmatic Sphinx. An overnight train whisks you south to Aswan, gateway to Africa and crossroads of civilizations. Here the pace is slower - you can relax or ride camels to a desert monastery (optional!) or simply walk the streets and visit the bazaar to experience the hustle and bustle of this city.

Sailing Down the Nile
The traditional lateen-rigged boat of the Nile takes you slowly down the river. Sleeping on board under star-filled skies, you head towards Luxor - capital of the Pharaohs. The wondrous temples and relics that dot the landscape here are a potent reminder of the magnificence of Egypt’s past. You’ll ride donkeys through spectacular desert hills into the Valley of the Kings to explore some of the famous tombs. Finally, you’ll see the wonders of Karnak Temple, built to honour the Gods of ancient Egypt, and a glorious collection of obelisks, pylons and statues.
Journey by felucca
Your vessel is a traditional boat with a large lateen sail, of the kind used in Egypt for centuries. Relying on the wind, the gentle pace of your journey gives you time to meet locals and gain an intriguing insight into the life of the fellahin whose lifestyle has changed little since the time of the Pharaohs.
Sinai Desert and El Gouna Beach Extensions
Sinai Desert Extension: After returning to Cairo at the end of your trip, you head out along the Sinai Peninsula. The extension starts at Sarabit el Khadem, the only ancient Egyptian Temple on the Sinai Peninsula, and you camp tonight in the desert. Continuing into the desert, you pass the rock-cut Hathor Temple on the way to the remote town of Wadi Firan, located in a small fertile strip of land on the peninsula. It’s a very early start the next morning to climb Mt. Sinai (optional) before returning to visit St. Catherine’s Monastery. After a short desert trek, you camp in the desert overnight, before returning to Cairo. Sinai extension from £329. Please call a Travel Consultant for further details. El Gouna Beach Extension: From Luxor, you drive across the Eastern Desert to the Red Sea coastal town of El Gouna. Here you can take time to relax on the beach or swim in the Red Sea. Qualified scuba divers might like to take a closer look at the coral and colourful fish in this region; snorkelling will also give you ample opportunity to glimpse the surprises of the deep. El Gouna beach extension from £199.
The Trip
Anyone in good health should be able to take part in this comprehensive trip. Although conditions on board the felucca sailboats are very simple, there is no physical difficulty involved and any walks are optional. An ability to swim is recommended. Please note some road journeys in Egypt are operated by the authorities in convoys. This means that travelling times will be fixed and arrival times into destinations may vary to those described here, with sightseeing adjusted accordingly.

Top Tips
Wet wipes are very useful on the felucca and for ladies; a two piece swimming costume is much easier than a one piece!
