Colca Canyon & Lake Titicaca
Starting in colonial Arequipa you’ll discover the walled enclosure of Santa Catalina Convent before heading over the high altiplano to the impressive Colca Canyon - where condors soar on the rising thermals. Another spectacular drive takes you to the curious stone burial towers of Sillustani on the edge of Lake Titicaca. Exploring by boat you’ll travel to see the Uros Indians on their floating reed islands.
Machu Picchu & Cusco
Next stop is Cusco, once the capital of the Inca empire. After visiting the vast fortress of Sacsayhuaman you head out to Pisac market and soak up the warm atmosphere of the Sacred Valley. Finally board the fabled train ride to the lost city of Machu Picchu to fully explore the labyrinth of Inca temples and houses perched high in the Andes.
Amazon Jungle Extension 18 days ref. PCA
You can round off your trip to Peru with a visit to the amazing Amazon rainforest. You’ll stay in a comfortable lodge on the Tambopata River and have two days to explore the rainforest.
The Trip
There is no physical difficulty, so anyone in good health can take part - although heat, altitude and the rough road to the Colca Canyon can sometimes make conditions a little uncomfortable.
Tips
Try drinking a cup of coca tea to help you adjust to the altitude and remember to pack some headache tablets. Glucose tablets are great for an energy boost. Don’t eat too much on the first couple of days at altitude to avoid nausea and headaches.
Accommodation

13 breakfasts (17 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 evening meals for travellers taking our Amazon extension) are included. You must pay for all other meals yourself (you can eat quite well for £10-£15 per day). Approximate costs are given for guidance only, and may vary widely according to location and type of establishment.
